Chilli
1lb. ground beef
1 small onion
(chopped)
1 can beans ( you can use kidney beans, pinto beans, chilli
beans, my favorite is just good old pork and beans.)
1 8 oz can diced
tomatoes
1 pk. chilli seasoning mix ( these mixes can be as cheap
as 50 cents, I like to buy a couple just to have on hand)
1 tablespoon
brown sugar
Brown your ground beef, with your chopped onion, drain
off the extra fat, add all the other ingredients and bring to a boil,
reduce heat and leave on low for at least 30 minutes. stir it once in a
while. If you rather you can put it all in the oven at 300' and bake it
for 30 minutes and then turn on to lowest oven temp. Until you want to
serve it. I like to serve this with some grated cheese and
crackers.
People get caught up in thinking that you can only
make foods using certain kinds of ingredients, and most of the time there
are lots of different things that can be used. If you don't have any
seasoning packages on hand make up your own, red pepper and salt and
pepper will still make a good chilli. You can use almost any kind of
tomato, tomato sauce, whole tomatoes, just chop them up with a fork.
Tomato juice will work too. Don't be afraid to try different things.
Add spices a little at a time, less is better, you can add more, but its
hard to take out when its to much.
